These terms govern your use of wackywolfexplorer.com. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
1. What this site is, and what it is not
Wacky Wolf Explorer is an independent technical reference publication covering off-grid power, water, climate and connectivity systems, vehicle and property selection, and the regulatory environment around them.
It is journalism and technical reference writing. It is not professional advice, and the following section is the most important part of these terms.
2. Content accuracy and the limits of what we publish
We research carefully, cite primary sources where they exist, state our uncertainty where sources conflict, and publish corrections when we get something wrong. That is the standard we hold ourselves to. It is not a guarantee, and you should read the following with the seriousness it deserves.
Electrical, mechanical and safety content
Articles and calculators on this site cover battery systems, inverters, wire sizing, generators, combustion heaters and carbon monoxide risk. Electrical and fuel-burning systems can kill people and burn down vehicles and buildings.
- Nothing here is a substitute for a qualified electrician, RV technician, or installer working to the applicable code in your jurisdiction.
- Our calculators produce estimates from the figures you enter. They cannot see your installation, your components, your ambient conditions or your wiring. Verify every output against manufacturer documentation and applicable code before you buy, build or energise anything.
- Where an article discusses carbon monoxide, exhaust routing, battery thermal behaviour or fuel systems, treat it as a starting point for further research, not a specification to build from.
- Medical equipment — including CPAP — must be sized on its own dedicated reserve and never on the margin of a shared battery bank. No output from any calculator on this site is a guarantee of overnight runtime for equipment you depend on.
Legal and regulatory content
The /rules/ section covers boondocking legality, solar permitting, septic and greywater rules, water rights, vehicle registration, licensing, domicile and insurance.
This is not legal advice, and no solicitor–client or attorney–client relationship is created by reading it. Rules in these areas vary by state, by county, by land manager, by parcel and by local authority having jurisdiction, and they change. We say so repeatedly in the articles themselves, and we mean it: verify with the relevant authority before you rely on anything you read here. Where we state a rule, we state the date it was accurate as of.
Financial content
Articles covering cost of ownership, depreciation, insurance, warranties, financing and residency are not financial, tax, insurance or investment advice. They are analyses built on stated assumptions, which you should check against your own circumstances. Consult a qualified professional before making a financial commitment.
Pricing, specifications and currency of information
Prices, product specifications, tax credits, plan terms and regulatory positions change, sometimes quickly. Articles carry a date. Content that was accurate when published may not be accurate when you read it. We review time-sensitive content on a schedule, but we cannot promise that every figure on the site is current at every moment.
No warranty
The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement.
3. Acceptable use
You may read, print and share our content for personal and non-commercial use, and link to it freely.
You may not:
- Republish substantial portions of our content, in whole or in part, without written permission.
- Scrape, harvest or systematically copy the site, including for the purpose of training machine learning models.
- Use the site or its content for any unlawful purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers, or any connected system.
- Interfere with the site’s operation, including through automated request volumes that degrade service for others.
- Present our content as your own, or remove attribution.
Brief quotation with clear attribution and a link back is fine, and welcome.
4. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, tables, calculator logic, data compilations, editorial analysis and design — is owned by Wacky Wolf Explorer or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property law.
Product names, brands and trademarks referenced in our articles belong to their respective owners. We reference them for identification and comment. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any manufacturer or vendor discussed on this site.
5. Advertising and editorial independence
This site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. We do not choose which advertisers appear, and their appearance is not an endorsement. We carry no affiliate links, take no payment for coverage, and accept no vendor influence over editorial content. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed prominently rather than buried here.
Our willingness to say a product is not worth buying is the entire premise of the publication, and it does not have a price.
6. External links
We link to manufacturer documentation, government agencies, standards bodies and other external sources, because our content depends on being checkable. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. A link is not an endorsement.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Wacky Wolf Explorer is not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or otherwise — arising from your use of this site or your reliance on anything published on it. This includes, without limitation, property damage, equipment failure, financial loss, regulatory penalty, personal injury or death.
You use the information on this site at your own risk, and you are responsible for verifying it before acting on it.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded or limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Wacky Wolf Explorer against any claim arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of the site.
9. Availability
We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, or free of errors. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it, including individual articles and calculators, without notice.
10. Corrections
If you find an error — particularly a technical, regulatory or safety error — tell us at info@wackywolfexplorer.com. We will investigate, and where we are wrong we will correct the article and note the correction. Publishing corrections is part of how this site earns the trust it asks for.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The “Last updated” date reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after a revision constitutes acceptance of it.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the UK, and the courts of the UK have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection provisions of the law of your country of residence.
13. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
